Introducing... Inertia
Inertia is hailing out of Kansas, USA. What's so special about him? Why should you even give your precious time (which you would have wasted on Facebook anyway) to him?
Because he's a master on the microphone and a beast on the buttons. He's won awards for his producing back in 2011 (he produced track 13 on Soulja Boy's third album The DeAndre Way). Inertia is now turning his talents to rap, and fine-tuned they are. His debut release is 'Replay' sounds like it has come from a veteran in the game - it is cool, chilled and creative.
If you're a little bit bored of the status quo of rap right now then this is for you, if you're disillusioned by the dance music draped under the dogtag of hip hop then this is for you, if you NEED new good music in your life this is for you.

iLL Manors - It's Definitely Not a 'Popcorn and Fanta Flex'...
Ill Manors is brought to you by Plan B, this is his directorial debut, it's bound to be a little bit naff....
right?
NO.
This is epic. This movie was screened last night in Leicester Square, the premiere played host to an array of stars who trod the red carpet being tugged and hugged by reporters and fans respectively. I managed to be part of the RWD team there and we were making our debut too! It was mine and @Kemp1988 's red carpet reporting debut and it was a game of patience more than anything. We've learnt a lot and I certainly feel like I can build on the next one (if the opportunity is given to me).
But anyway back to the film itself, it's graphic for sure but it's informative too. Not in the way of a documentary although Ben Drew does narrate over it, it's informative in an entertaining way. Entertaining in this context meaning rollercoaster-esque. There are some real emotional traumas and violent dramas which touch the audience in the eyes and heart. I'd especially recommend this to the cynics, or at least those who think sceptically about the characters that are being portrayed. What I noticed is that, after watching the film, you actually start noticing these characters in real life, it really is quite a weird realisation sensation when you go 'OMG maybe Great Britain isn't all it seems after all..'.
Riz Ahmed (Riz MC) plays one of the most interesting and perhaps most integral roles in the film, he's just as cold on the surface as the rest of the ill-mannered (see what I did there?) hustlers but Aran (his character) definitely has a moral conscience and dilemmas rushing through his mind. Ed Skrein (pronounced like fine) puts in a sterling performance to play the bad ruthless guy who unfortunatelly plummets to his death. There are too many characters and powerful performances and naming them all would take forever.
You must go watch this movie. Yes it's graphic, it's definitely not a 'popcorn and fanta' flex. But it's a work of art, it's political art, you appreciate this like you appreciate a Banksy. Plus there's some sick music in it, init.

Introducing Context, my new obsession
Context is somebody I discovered just yesterday. I went to watch him tear up the sweatbox known as The Enterprise in Camden. He impressed me so much I decided to check out his stuff properly the following day and I am now addicted. His sound is so refreshing, I can't help but love it.
I managed to catch a brief interview with the man himself back stage, check that out along with a review of the gig on SBTV soon....

Police Lock Off The OMA's
According to @OfficialOMAs, police have shut down the 3rd Official Mixtape Awards event which was due to take place in Watford. The reasons given seem to point towards the notion that the majority of the artists in all of the categories have criminal records.
The venue was given the ultimatum of either shut down the event or lose your license; the inevitable was chosen.

It's been a year since I created this blog and I'm endlessly thankful for whatever pushed me to actually start it. Why? because ever since, my life has improved and changed dramatically.
I always knew my passion was music. I always knew I thought about music differently. I always knew I could provide a unique insight and analysis of music. Combining this with my ambitions of being a businessman/ entrepreneur, the same phrase kept re-occuring when I tried to describe what made me so different; The Bigger Picture.
I saw and see The Bigger Picture. This is why I wanted to write, this is how I write and this is what I write.
8000+ independent site views later, I'm a freelance writer for RWDmag. This is simply the beginning, I'm far from happy with settling for this title.
Watch this space and thanks to everybody who has supported what I do, I see you, don't worry.

Has Dizzee Done a Wiley?
Wiley is quite the philanthropist, samaritan and all-round helper, don'tcha know? However, perhaps this has been his achilles heel. Wiley, who co-founded the genre that we know and used to love as grime, spent a lot of his time and efforts in helping the scene grow rather than focus on himself.
Wiley was and now to a lesser extent still is hell-bent on bringing through talent, such is his charitable and down-to-earth nature.
Dizzee Rascal has arguably been doing the same. We all know he crossed the musical-M25 otherwise known as 'going commercial' and he has been rather successful at it, particularly in this country. There's no doubting his dollars but recently he's been focussed on other people's projects, namely his label-mates the Newham Generals. The Dirtee Stank mixtape came out months ago which was largely a showcase of D Double E and Footsie's talents.
We haven't heard much work solely from Rascal, fair enough he's been occupied.... but is he heading toward the same ill-fate of Wiley?
The next project Dizzee Rascal puts out could be pivotal. If you think grime/ hip hop fans are impatient or fickle, wait till you see the reaction of the commercial/mainstream missionaries if the East London 'boy in da corner' delivers something sub-standard after some time away.
They'll roast him like the aristocratic critics they are and there's no telling whether Dizzee will phoenix his way out of the tinderbox...
