The official video to the highly anticipated uniquely heartfelt hip hop track 'They Burn Me' was uploaded to Curtis' YouTube channel on Christmas day and was surely destined to millions of deserved views. However, moments later, it appeared that Universal Music Group had ordered it to be taken off the site due to copyright infringements.
This 50 Cent vs Jimmy Iovine/ UMG saga has been rumbling on for a while and nearly hit its climax earlier in the year when 50 threatened to leak one of Dre's tracks after the New Yorker had accused Universal of violating his trust by leaking artwork and other mixtape pieces.
However, it seems fellow rap star Fabolous has been kind enough to publish the video on his channel. Even though the audience it is exposed to has narrowed, it'll have to do... for now...
By the way, we don't normally do this but, shout out to www.craveonline.com - they did a very interesting article on this and similar to us, took a step back and looked at the bigger picture.

50 Cent - The Big 10
The man Fif releases what is a cross between an LP and a mixtape, all the material is new but it is free to download! On the record, he introduces new artists such as Kidd Kidd and Paris.
We think this is a hot tape and is definitely worth listening to, this should put G- Unit back on the map, as Mr Jackson said himself, he's focussing on music now. Watch this space...

BREAKING NEWS: Vybz Kartel Escapes From Prison
This is indeed 'breaking' news. The Jamaican superstar has reportedly escaped from prison along with 7 other in-mates after holding prison officers at gun point.
Vybz was serving a lengthy sentence after being found guilty of murder.
This hollywood movie style stunt renders the dancehall phenom the most wanted man in Jamaica.
Here's an appropriate song from the man himself:

FIDDY FRIDAY
The usual procedure with Fiddy Friday is we take you back at least a few years and indulge in the man's illustrious past. HOWEVER, this week we're only taking a short trip to July of this year.
In early July 2011, G Unit went to Morocco as part of their tour. The madness which ensued was off the scale. This is the reason I am posting this video because it proves how MASSIVE 50 still is despite not having much of the limelight in recent years.
Check it out!
I cannot think of another rapper (except maybe Eminem ?) who could travel to the other side of the world and cause this much pandemonium.
Your Dreezy's and Yeezy's may be on your television screens but none of them come close to the international legacy that is G-Unit mania...

Benny Banks: "Giggs & K Koke Are Nursery Rhyme Rappers"
Now, we have supported Benny Banks for a while now and did our best to promote his mixtape when it came out. It was a great mixtape and I am personally a big fan of his music. HOWEVER, what he states in this video and the sort of cockiness he displayed on Twitter in the aftermath, was and is straight out disrespectful. Here is the video with the comment about Giggs and K Koke:
From Twitter:
@officialgiggs: I wonder how bein a smart Alec rapper is gonna help when reality comes knocking?
@BuckOTB : People always talk themselves into problems. A lot rappers really get it twisted. Tut Tut
@MrBennyBanks : Loool stop tweetin me bull#!@%*# about koke and giggs!! I got asked who I rate more out of dem 2 n joey n I answerd da question!! I MENT WAT I SAID..... People get over it, I neva dissd no 1... I jus told da truth!!!!
@BuckOTB : @MrBennyBanks bruv don't @ my name with your bullshit
And the saga continues... You should never bite the hand that feeds you right?
Would any of these rappers even be eating from the rap game if it wasn't for Giggs kicking the door off the hinges?
We don't see the logic in disrespecting the father of the UK rap game and also one of the top rappers in the scene. In fact, any response from either SN1 or USG's camp could be the death of Benny's career.
But Giggs does not respond to beef, we know this, he is not a battle rapper, its a waste of time as he has affirmed on numerous occassions.
We think Giggs would probably just want Benny to listen to this as it pretty much says it all:

FIDDY FRIDAY
This week we take you back to the BET Awards in 2007. What's supposed to happen is 50 arrives elegantly from the ceiling to the floor via a lift and gives a textbook performance of Amusement Park. HOWEVER, it all goes wrong on the way down, he forgets what his lyrics are and tries his best to play it off, we salute the improvisation! Take a look...

Lil Wayne Disses Jay Z ?
Okay people... Let's all get real for a second. This is not a diss. These are a bunch of grown uber-rich guys who like to sell records. This is called promotion!
A diss? A diss would be something akin to what Tupac said on Hit 'Em Up!
In other news, how dead was Jadakiss' flow in this track?
OFFICIAL VIDEO: Lil Wayne - How To Love
The Bigger Picture gave you the song when it came out months ago, now watch the video!
How To Love? This is a lesson in how to make a video. It is creative, powerful and meaningful. It is currently trending worldwide on Twitter because of these winning qualities. The message is more than relevant as the theme of broken society and importance of parenting reverberates around our screens on a daily basis.

Should Lloyd Banks Be The Unit's Figurehead?
The PLK is back, check out 'Love Me In The Hood' below:
G Unit was once the front-runner in the hip hop world but now it is somewhat irrelevant. The Bigger Picture asks whether it is time for 50 to step to the side and let Banks take the figure-head role. Unless 50 comes up with something magical with his forthcoming album, it looks like the death knell is ringing for the New York collective.
We think it's time for 50 to be the businessman and market and brand Lloyd Banks as the figurehead while Curtis himself takes a secondary role musically.

Go... Go... Go... Go...
Curtis James Jackson III was born on this day in 1975. He grew up father-less and also mother-less before he turned 11 years old. Curtis was born and raised in the run down area of Southside Jamaica, Queens, New York. In the eighties and nineties the cocaine and crack cocaine epidemics were truly underway and flourishing as the drug coursed through the veins of the city, making the rich richer and finding new victims among the poorer citizens.
It was inevitable then, given the circumstances, that Curtis would establish himself in the lifestyle of a drug dealer. But who would have imagined he would start so young? At just twelve he began selling drugs on the streets of Queens because , in his own words,
He has also stated on a number of occassions that the main influencing factor was that the only people around him who were living an ideal lifestyle with money, cars and women were drug dealers. It was almost a no-brainer to enter into that business particularly as his mother had already established a number of links, connects and names for Jackson to associate with. It was almost natural for the young boy to segue into the path created by his mother and also the environment around him.
It wasn't until the birth of his son in 1997 that his priorities began to shift and he realised that in order to have a relationship with him and his mother; Curtis would have to embark on a new avenue to make money and be successful. He would have to do what so many hustlers are unable to do and that is ... leave.
Big Transition - Small Change
In 1996, he was introduced to hip hop legend Jam Master Jay and Jay taught the 20 year old the basics of music production and writing lyrics such as how to count and write bars in song form, how to structure tracks and create choruses etc. These were vital lessons which had they not been taught by such an inspirational and aspirational giant in the game, 50 may have lost motivation and simply slipped back into the hustler's lifestyle.

"I sold drugs and I was in a situation where there weren’t many options available me – I was so young that working wasn’t an option so that’s when I was dealing, when I was 12"
He has also stated on a number of occassions that the main influencing factor was that the only people around him who were living an ideal lifestyle with money, cars and women were drug dealers. Everything was going smoothly, Columbia Records signed him, he had an album on the way, his popularity was snowballing, and his track 'How To Rob' was getting him noticed.
50 Cent was born. Small change but definitely a big transition.
May 24th 2000
Jackson was gunned down outside his Grandma's home in Queens. He was famously shot nine times but survived. One bullet hit his jaw and caused him to have a slur in his voice, at the time the doctor had the option to remove the bullet but it would have meant that his vocal chords would be severely affected. His grandmother decided that his rap career was the only way Curtis would make it anywhere in life and so told the doctor to leave the bullet lodged in his jaw. It is still there today.
After the shooting, 50 was immediately dropped from the label Columbia Records and was blacklisted by the industry. However, he kept releasing songs and pushing mixtapes which grew in popularity, he had the streets buzzing.
Guess Who's Back
In 2002, Eminem and Dr Dre signed 50 Cent on a $1 Million deal (reportedly more) after Eminem had heard 50's mixtape 'Guess Who's Back' and was notably impressed.
The young New Yorker exploded to fame with his debut album 'Get Rich or Die Tryin' in 2003 which remains the largest selling debut hip hop album of all time.
His single 'In Da Club' received worldwide acclaim and 50 was well on his way to stardom with his aggressive material which had the clubs bouncing, the streets recognising and the industry shaking. By 2005 G-Unit mania was at its peak with the clothing line becoming a phenomenon along with the music itself reaching an ever-growing worldwide audience.
50 Cent is as much of a businessman as he is a musician. His most successful venture to date was Vitamin Water which he sold to Coca Cola for a much-speculated approximate sum of $4 billion.
Nowadays you'll find Curtis on the red carpets as he looks to expand on his acting career and his film production company 'Cheetah Vision' . He is definitely focused behind the film projects, last year he lost what looked like a tonne of weight in order to play the role of a cancer patient in a movie.
50 Cent has done what rappers such as Jay Z took decades to do in just 6 years. He is a rap mogul and a tycoon with a wide ranging portfolio from books and clothing to water and fragrance. He changed the shape and face of the game, although he has been keeping quiet in terms of albums, Black Magic is set to be released by the end of this year and we are assured that it is going to smash the scene to bits!
Anyone who knows me well enough will know that 50 Cent is my favourite rapper ... ever. The flows are addictive and his character and persona is inspirational, I couldn't write any more as the words wouldn't do the man justice!
I'd like to finish off with my favourite 50 Cent song:
Happy Birthday 50!

Exclusive Interview: Free Koke
It's all love across the UK rap scene right now, Giggs tweeted earlier:
" BIG UP KOKE,THEY CAN ONLY TRY & SLOW US DOWN,BUT CANT STOP THE INEVITABLE "
The Bigger Picture broke the news months ago that K Koke had been arrested for attempted murder. The judicial process is still continuing and the newly-signed Rocafella artist is still behind bars. But not the bars we need him behind, the man is a talent and the UK scene needs him back behind the microphone as soon as possible.
Normally we don't get involved or interfere with this Free blahblah business but this is an exception, so Free Koke.
Earlier the elaborately named 'Exclusive Stalker' spoke to the Stonebridge star in an interview, he speaks about his position in the case, the reaction from inmates and the songs he has been writing whilst locked up...

Tupac: 15 Years On
Tupac Amaru Shakur was born on June 16th 1971 which would make today his 40th birthday. The Bigger Picture examines how differently the rap industry would have shaped up had he been around for the last few decades.
Tupac was murdered on September 13th 1996 in Las Vegas.
[See more: 'Tupac Killer Comes Forward' http://rikybains1.blogspot.com/2011/06/tupac-killer-comes-forward.html ]
After the passing of the Notorious BIG and Tupac, the two biggest phenoms in hip hop at the time, the demographic and the structure of the industry began to weaken at the foundations and popularity shifted.
50 Cent makes reference to the shift in the style of music being produced in his song 'I'm A Hustler' :
From 1996 onwards, hip hop's complexion became softer and heavily RnB based songs were the consequences of the death of the hard-hitting rappers, Christopher Wallace and Tupac Shakur. The gap left by these two giants were exploited by DMX alongside the Ruff Ryders who brought the aggressive material which the industry had been missing. It is arguable that had Tupac not been eradicated from the equation, DMX would not be so popular.
The second greatest example is 50 Cent. Fifty rose to stardom at a time when the only rappers with aggressive material in the charts were the likes of Nelly, and even his material was still soft. 50 found a niche in the music market which was aggressive material, backed up by real life experiences and catchy hooks - these attributes had not really been exploited since Tupac's demise.
Therefore you could again argue that artists like 50 who shocked audiences with a refreshing new aggressive tone would not be so popular had Tupac not been murdered and was still involved in the game.
Demographics
We must remember that Tupac was only 25 when he was murdered and we can assume that he would have remained at the top of his game for at least another ten years.
When Shakur was releasing his records, the hip hop audience was predominantly black. Since the arrival of Eminem and the commercialisation of hip hop with groups such as Young Money at the forefront of making rap mainstream, the rap audience has diversified and no longer holds boundaries of gender, race, age or ethnicity.
Had Tupac reigned for another 10- 15 years, would the demographic have changed? or would his material remain consistent to the black audience that could relate to his expressionism of the harsh realities which society finds itself in.
I personally think that artists such as Drake who are considered to be 'conscious' rappers would be ineffective in a world with Tupac. Therefore, the pop audience that artists such as Drake and Lil Wayne bring with them would not exist.
Who knows what the game would have looked like but one thing for sure is that we all sorely miss the man's music.
Happy 40th Birthday Tupac

Tupac Killer Comes Forward
Courtesy of AllHipHop and RadioPlanet :
A man has admitted to shooting rap star Tupac Shakur in 1994 after allegedly being paid $2,500 dollars by James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond inside Manhattan’s Quad Studios in November of 1994.
Dexter Isaac, a former friend of Rosemond, is an inmate currently serving life in prison for murder, robbery and other offenses.
Isaac came forward Wednesday (June 15th) with the information on the eve of what would be Tupac‘s 40th birthday.
He confessed to his involvement in the November 30th, 1994 shooting of Tupac Shakur to AllHipHop.com, after Jimmy Henchman identified him in a statement, relating to Henchman‘s indictment for dealing numerous kilos of cocaine.

It's been a hot minute since we last heard from the patois-toned rapper but this is seriously something special. What you are about to watch is a heartfelt piece of lyrical truth and it feels so real. It's emotional as Giggs would say...

Presenting To You ... F-T
The Bigger Picture breaks through artists from the underground so that they get the recognition they deserve. What we have here for you today is exactly that. F-T is a young man from Milton Keynes and I'd strongly advise you to listen to this guy, it is seriously good stuff :
He raps about a lot of the issues that other artists talk about but from a different perspective, it really is quite refreshing and the production is top notch too.. give it a listen-
What did you think of that?
Get @ me on Twitter with your feedback and I'll pass it on or alternatively just comment below.
More on the artist...
F-T first gained nationwide attention by producing some of the most recognised uk grime classics as part of the collective ‘imp batch’ which consisted of friends who grew up together around the milton keynes area.
Having worked with a large majority of the uk’s underground artists F-tizzle is now concentrating on expanding his own fanbase and touring the country.
To date F-T has released 3 cd’s being ‘One Boy and His Music’ , ‘Global Epidemic’ and the latest mixtape ‘MK Don’. These cd’s feature the likes of Roll Deep, Tinchy Stryder, Flirta D, Tim Westwood and many more and are available via online outlets and independent stores.

Benny Banks - Patiently Waiting Vol. 1
Benny Banks is a name which is circling around the UK rap scene and for me he has always been somebody with a lot of potential but yet to show the proof.
Yesterday, Banks released his mixtape 'Patiently Waiting Vol. 1' and I listened to it from start to finish and can honestly say it was an excellent tape.
The production is very good and the numerous features don't let Benny down which is the case for so many artists who choose to add a lot of features to their albums and mixtapes.
In an interview with MTV UK Benny stated, when asked about the mixtape:
He certainly does that, each track is just as heartfelt as the previous one and the message genuinely does transmit to the listener. What impressed me more was the abundance of hooks which were well thought out and catchy, something which the majority of UK artists struggle to do so often. The verses have depth and the lyrical flavour is present, this really is a big mixtape for Banks to drop.
Here is a track from the mixtape:

RECAP: May 2011
The Bigger Picture looks back on what was an eventful month in the musical calendar, giving you the chance to read anything you may have missed!
On May 11th it was a remembrance day for the life and achievements of Bob Marley, we published a colourful and respectfully brief article on the man which received a lot of praise from readers.
You can read the article here:
http://rikybains1.blogspot.com/2011/05/one-good-thing-about-music.html
On May 14th we reviewed and critiqued from a highly analytical perspective the brand new mixtape from the UK's very own Tinie Tempah. This article drew in a lot of praise and a lot of time, effort and heart went into it so if you didn't catch it the first time then here it is again for your reading pleasure! :
http://rikybains1.blogspot.com/2011/05/stardom-is-no-foreign-object.html
Three days later we brought you a thought provoking insight into Canada's answer to grime Tre Mission, this was an article which opened a lot of people's eyes and allowed people to learn more about the man. It is a great little read so if you missed it, here you go :
http://rikybains1.blogspot.com/2011/05/mission-possible.html
On the 19th May, The Bigger Picture wrote an interesting and linguistically flamboyant article and review of the controversial rapper Tyler the Creator. You can check this out right now by clicking the link below :
http://rikybains1.blogspot.com/2011/05/tyler-creative.html
Towards the end of the month we gave you treats such as a brand new single from Lil Wayne's forthcoming album Tha Carter IV, the documentaries on the British rapper Blade Brown, the saddening news of Sean Kingston's accident, and we introduced to you two of the finest producers around. One of which has since managed to strike an agreement to produce a song for an overseas artist.
The blog really is taking off in all directions and providing a platform for everybody who is involved musically. There are a number of avenues we are looking to travel down for the forthcoming month including an exclusive interview with a childhood friend of 50 Cent! Stay tuned!
This has been a very successful first month for The Bigger Picture having accumulated well over 1000 hits with just my own promotion. We are now becoming increasingly popular and hence we are giving the opportunity for artists, musicians, producers or anyone else to promote and advertise on this blog. You can find more information on this by clicking on 'Opportunities' on the right hand side!

Tyler, The Creative
I know. It's 'Tyler, The Creator' but that Freudian Slip was intended. Any critic from God to Bill O'Reilly can voice whatever judgement they have of Tyler, The Creator and his pack 'Odd Future', but one thing that must not be denied is the fluid creativity that flows through the music.
The 'Yonkers' star has gained millions of fans worldwide largely due to his unpredictability, his explosive use of words and of course the unique and innovative production.
" He takes the script of mainstream rap and burns it on the microphone "
What is often forgotten is that Tyler produces. He produced the viral sensation 'Yonkers' and the majority of the music on the new album Goblin is his own and follows the same suit. While he stays true to his carefree, outspoken and volatile manner he definitely does not play ball with the industry, he takes the script of mainstream rap and burns it on the microphone. He's the actor, the director and the producer and he wants his film to be as vulgar, electrifying and against the grain as possible.
The long sock wearing, skateboard riding, horror story sharing rapper from California has assembled over 9 million views in just three months for the shocking but highly creative song 'Yonkers'. He definitely has a buzz around him and not just a local one, worldwide. After the success of that he could quite easily have collaborated with the big names but he has remained interestingly close to his own circle 'Odd Future' and this has helped the other members of the collective to rise above the water for a little fame for themselves.
If you are a fan of expletives, are looking to listen to something disturbing and unlike anything else in the realm of hip hop then GOBLIN is for your ears.
One thing that is always highly respected on The Bigger Picture is quantity. We'll come onto quality soon but quantity is unquestionable here, Tyler presents you over 90 minutes of sound for 9 Pounds.
Each song is more like a movie than a song, the artist paints pictures with words, tones and rhythmic music. Each one of these instrumentals could be the backing track for an epic movie scene. The production and the creative freedom transmitted through the music are absolutely worthy of applause.
He proves his production prowess with the track entitled 'AU79' which is just music and empty of vocals, it provides a welcome pause after the hectic bass-heavy preceeding songs but simultaenously it is a showcase of his talent on the buttons.
Speaking of special effects, Tyler evidently enjoys replicating the devil's voice on his tracks as a kind of allusion to his conscience to attempt to double his possessed image, which he has successfully portrayed to millions and which millions have bought into very quickly.
It is refreshing when you hear him spit in the normal fashion, with just his voice and the beat, it resembles the essence of a great rapper with pockets of potential but then he hurries back to indulging in his twisted alter-ego.
What this album does is leave you very perplexed. I listened to it from start to finish, I still don't know if I 'get it' yet. I'm not sure if I just wasted an hour of my life or if I've encountered the mind of a madman combined with the creativity of a genius splattered on to paper and spat with genuine venom onto a microphone.
On various tracks we gratefully receive insights into his real human soul, on 'Golden' he reveals a softer compassionate side to himself but carried with the vehicle of uncompromised hardhitting delivery.
Tyler, The Creator brings to the table raw emotion and passion which is spiced up with hints of fictional horror. He has come to stardom at a time where glitter and glamour grace the global stages of music. What Odd Future do with their music is burn everything down back to the bare basics - true emotion, genuine meaning and story telling to entertain the masses without sticking to scripts or guidelines. While they light up their paths with unforgiveable uncaring inferno, I hope that it sparks the flames within the music industry as a whole and reminds artists what the purpose is and what a blessing it is to have the ability to speak to millions across borders and across differences.
I'll leave you with one of my personal favourite tracks off the album GOBLIN which was leaked earlier in the month but officially released on May 10 :

Mission Possible
Go to Wikipedia , search "Grime (Music)" and scroll down to the section extrinsically entitled "International growth" .
What you have stumbled across are three paragraphs. Each one throwing names and figures and venues at you in the attempt to suggest that Grime music as an entity is growing internationally.
It has quite the opposite effect and it highlights the half-hearted breakthroughs in the past and therefore the lack of prominence of this genre of music on a global stage. The writer tries to salvage some integrity by connecting international growth with increased live grime concerts..
But Hyde Park and Leeds are hardly international are they? Nice try but unfortunately an unsuccessful rescue mission.
HOWEVER...
Speaking of which, if this controversial, uncommercially friendly genre of music is so unappealing to artists worldwide - then why has a young man from Toronto, Canada decided to take the reigns at 140 bpm?
The MC I am talking about is Tre Mission and he gave a rather conclusive answer in an interview with MTV UK:
From a personal perspective it really is a breath of fresh air to hear different accents 'do' grime. I look forward to him collaborating with a number of UK MC's. I hope his footsteps on the Grime path encourage other international MC's to follow, thus rendering Grime a mission possible.
So if you are not already aware of the man I suggest you check out "When I Come Thru" and "Hold Up" on YouTube.
But you know we bring you THE latest music so without further ado , I present to you the brand new track entitled "World Go Crazy" :

Stardom Is No Foreign Object ...
... Well not for Tinie Tempah!
The platinum plaque selling Plumstead man has just released a brand new free mixtape which goes by the strangely self-deflating title of "Foreign Object".
(You can find a Download link at the bottom of the page)
The words 'Foreign Object' imply the intrusion of an alien-species and the cover art presents Tinie with a cup of tea and a stern look as if to insinuate 'The British are [Finally] here'. So the packaging has a distinctly home-made feel but the content is still predominantly Americanised with US productions and US collaborations/ features.
Tinie's head takes up the majority of the cover art which is arguably appropriate as the music itself reflect Tempah in an ambitious, egotistical and self-preserving manner:
The London boy is definitely not holding back in his US invasion, explicitly declaring his aim to sell gargantuan quantities of records is something we would criticise or brush off as humour with any other UK artist. But with Tinie the tale is different, he has an international buzz and is consistently delivering big commercial successes with his singles, without the need to collaborate with many major names thus far.
It is no secret that Tinie has adapted his flow and style of delivery since the days of "Hood Economics" and "Wifey". His vocal chords in the booth now tread precariously around the thin line of 'Original' and 'Trying to be American'. He dances around his words in a playful fashion allowing his music to reach particularly young Americans who tend to associate the British accent with dullness and monotony.
The unanticipated Russel Brand 'Skits' in the mixtape break up the songs nicely and cleverly remind the listener that this is a British record.
For me, the most interesting track on the mixtape is 'Hitz' it has an eyebrow-raising in-your-face hard rap/ rock sound and serves as a signpost which states "I Can Do Hip Hop Too". It is also interesting to note that a lot of the tracks are hit hip hop songs which are currently out and Tinie takes the backing music and laces his vocals on them, to almost inadvertently suggest that he has the credibility, the quality and the relevance to be on these records with the 'big boys'. To some extent I believe this is a mixtape aimed at the industry as much as it is for the fans.
Read between the lines and you'll see Tinie is constantly telling you that he deserves to be placed at the pinnacle of the pop pyramid.
We can confirm that 'Till I'm Gone' Featuring Wiz Khalifa will be the next official single and what with the song reaching over 120,000 hits in around 72 hours, there's no rationale why this couldn't be another smash hit single.
From a personal perspective the mixtape launches off rocket-fueled as Tinie comes out of his corner fighting on 'Hustle Hard', 'Sh**ted on 'Em' and '6 Foot 7' to name a few. Then the fire peters out towards the end with almost routine songs such as 'Bass Down Low Remix' and 'ET remix'.
I firmly believe that he adequately demonstrates that he is technically equipped and has a fluctuating flow which could keep the international market interested and listening. You can see this for yourself on certain American dominated sites which usually take a critically dismissive stance on UK acts, such as Thisis50.com where Tinie is generally being praised by the masses.
I'd like to conclude this review with two gifts for you. One is my favourite track from the mixtape which is quite unusual because I am not usually an advocator of auto-tune.
And if you, like me, prefer the human voice to that of a computer then open up your mind for this track entitled 'Racks on Racks Remix'.
Volumes up please. This is what I call a 'Vybzerz'.

Tryna sell a billion call me Elvis Presley/Look At Me Now (feat. Lil Wayne)
Keep it old school, you n***as' elementary/
One Good Thing About Music...
...When it hits you feel no pain.
Bob Marley.
Today, those who care and those who are aware comemorate the life and legacy of Nesta Robert Marley.
He grabbed the beautifully uncultivated sound of Reggae and allowed its branches to grow all around the world. His music truely touched the hearts of people in ways that only few people could. His music continues to do so and provides a message of solidarity which politicians couldn't even dream to create.
Bob grew up father-less and encountered the numerous inevitable consequent struggles. He believed strongly in placing the people's feelings onto vinyl and tape. Bob felt that the people were being neglected and music did not accurately portray the situations in society. The pain people went through could be numbed only by the ambient sounds of Bob Marley and The Wailers.
As one critic summarises in The Rolling Stone magazine:
Bob died aged 36 in Miami, Florida. His final words to his son were "Money can't buy life". We could argue all day long about that statement and its application and relevance today but for me, it would be a worthless process.
Bob Marley left a legacy, through his music he has become legend. As I was youtube-hopping today from one Marley video to the other, I came across a comment which said :
I think that more than sums up the magic he embedded into his music.
This is one of my favourite Bob tracks of all time I hope you enjoy it as much as I do -

Marley wasn’t singing about how peace could come easily to the World but rather how hell on Earth comes too easily to too many. His songs were his memories; he had lived with the wretched, he had seen the downpressers and those whom they pressed down."

ROC to HMP
K Koke was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
The incident took place in March when a man was shot in the back at a train station in Harlesden.
There are four other suspects, aged 16 and 17.
The trial will take place in July.
Is this really just the UK system trying to bring somebody who is climbing new heights back to the dirt?
Or did K Koke actually do this?
It would be strange if he did, having just signed a deal with Jay Z, why would he throw it all away?
Questions will be answered soon..
What we do know is that this incident will do wonders for his street credibility and his mixtape comes out in a week's time, the sales for that will be boosted significantly.

myThoughts:
First post, created a blog because I was feeling creative.
Blade Brown - Financial Times
This is a strong mixtape and a good succession from Bags and Boxes which would have been hard to top but I feel like Blade did himself justice.
90 Oz is one of the best on there and has a video, my prediction is it will hit 100k views within 1 month but not increase by much after that.
I'm impressed by the quantity too- 21 tracks on a mixtape feels like good value for money.
Benny Banks - Fire In The Booth
Never was a fan of Benny Banks and I thought he was overrated. Listened to (not watched , there's a difference) his fire in the booth on youtube and love it. He's a talented kid and hopefully will be going places. I've got this set on repeat at the moment.
Also respect to Charlie Sloth this Fire in the Booth concept works very well and is a great opportunity for musicians aswell as us fans to get a lengthy, good quality freestyle from artists. It seems to me Sloth has found a niche in the market.
Giggs - Monsta Man and LOYS video comes out 01/05/11
Look over your shoulder should be a success due to the Example feature and I expect this to recieve similar views to Don't go there. It will be interest to see the concept of this video, I feel it should be similar to Slow Songs and should contrast the typical club-style Monsta man video in order to demonstrate Giggs' variety and depth.
Monsta man is short but sweet with an original flow used and a bouncy beat, this would be akin to one of his club songs .
First week views for Monsta Man should be 30k
First week views for LOYS should be 40k
